This product comes flat packed in multiple cartons with assembly instructions included. We estimate approx. 10 hours of assembly time with 2 adults.
I watched the Bilt steps a couple times before the actual install effort. It estimated 3 people at 10 hours. Not sure where that came from as it took 3 of us about 4 hours to complete. My guess is maybe if you did all the bolts by hand versus a power tool. Having 3 people with 3 power tools made it go pretty quick. We also carefully inventories and staged all the materials near the install site. Instructions were pretty easy to follow. We only ran into one issue were we assembled the corner braces incorrectly and had to back a few pieces out to fix. (reviewed from Backyard Discovery)
I couldn't be more pleased with this pergola. It was excellent in every way. For starters, installation was very easy. The provided manual plus the app with 3D instructions made the process simple. It's a big project but I got five friends to come over and we spent the night before assembling all the parts and then put the whole thing up in a couple of hours.
All the parts were well marked, high quality, and assembled as instructed. It's really cool that the parts all come in bags with the part number outside. This means you aren't peeling stickers off. Moreover, everything went together exactly as intended. Every rail, screw, and part was easily fit and perfectly constructed. This is a really high quality product.
The end result is an absolutely classic, beautiful pergola. I had a patio poured with four 12" footings and the pergola is the perfect height and size. It's turned a hot unused spot of grass in our yard to a modern outdoor living space. I added a hot tub, fire pit, and chairs and we now have the new favorite spot in the backyard.
